Startup branding
I’ve had the unique pleasure and privilege of working on the foundational branding of a handful of new companies. My process for these projects always includes in-depth market research and competitive analysis, exhaustive mark sketching and typeface pairings, color theory and design systems thinking, and pressure testing all of this with mock marketing applications and brand/logo guidelines.
Illinois state flag redesign
In the fall of 2024, the State of Illinois launched a commission exploring and seeking public submissions for a new state flag. The goal behind my entry was to take elements of the existing state flag and seal —namely the central eagle and sun motif— and streamline it with simpler geometry and color.

Corporate swag
I’ve been able to apply my interest and stylistic versatility in illustration and typography to a variety of freelance swag applications —including stickers (including lenticular/animated), shirts, hats and entire new hire/prospect kits. These kits allow for a holistic experience and extension of the core brand. As an avid proponent for eco-friendly swag practices, I always strive to create something memorable and of a high enough quality that recipients will want to keep and use it for years to come.

Dog portraiture
While I seldom have the time (or interest) for oil painting these days, these recent in memoriam portraits demonstrate some of what I learned in my undergraduate studies and continued education since then. There is an interesting, surprising applicability to my design thinking in the deliberate, iterative approach to layering, texture, and color theory/contrast.
